The governor of Tennessee (Bill Haslam) was the keynote speaker at the COMPASS (Community Outreach Making Partnerships at Sumner Schools) fundraising luncheon on August 25, 2011. The event was held at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN. What a great facility. About 600 people attended the event. Most every public official from Sumner County was in attendance to hear the governor, and rub elbows with the constituants. COMPASS donated a bit over $18,000 to the Sumner County School system. To me, the most interesting point of the afternoon was mention by Warren Nichols (president of Volunteer State Community College) that high school students who qualify for the Tennessee Scholar program (a bit above a C average and a few extra courses) can attend Vol State tuition free for 2 years. What a great deal. As the governor said, Tennessee needs more middle class people who attend college, and this is a great program to cause that to happen.

July 4th and Fireworks
Spent the evening of July 3rd at the Freedom Festival at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. What a great fireworks show, and what great music by the WannaBeatles and the Garage Band Revival. Really really hot. The band members were sweating gallons of water. This is a wonderful event for Hendersonville, and the funds it raises are used for financial awards to Sumner County school teachers, to be used in their classroom projects.
And, the obligatory fireworks pictures.

Dance Force of Clarksville
Just finished a 4 day photo session at a recital produced by the Dance Force of Clarksville, Tennessee. This was from May 26 - May 29 at the Mass Communications Center of Austin Peay University in Clarksville. The show went from 6pm until 10pm or 10:30pm each night, except for Sunday afternoon when the show went from 1pm to 5:30pm.
Two different shows were presented. One show was presented Thursday and Saturday, the other show Friday and Sunday. I must have taken 12,000 photos, none of which I have seen yet. I was photographing for a company out of Canada named DRC Video. They specialize in Dance photography. They had a videographer at the event, and me as the photographer. I gave my digital cards to the videographer each night, he downloaded them, cleared them, and returned the cards to me the next day. The photos will ultimately be posted on

So go there to check them out. I know I will. Really wish I had some sample to post here, but no such luck. I will say the event was tremendous. I have no clue how they got a couple hundred kids to dance, change costumes, dance, change, dance, .... It was a huge production, with elaborate sets and costumes. A great time was had by all.

Music City Bowl 2010

Just finished working at the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 in Nashville, TN. Worked for myfanpics.com, taking photos of the fans. It was a long day, 9.5 hours on site, never sitting down. Got some great fan pictures, and a couple of pictures from the field.
The game was between the University of Tennessee and the University of North Carolina. One of the really great experiences was being on the field with the UT band. Talk about lots of energy, that band can rock. Too bad the UT football team didn't quite rock so much, as they ultimate lost the game in overtime. A real heartbreaker.
